Homelessness Support Services
Supporting professionals standing with people experiencing homelessness.
Welcome to our community of supportive professionals working with those with prenatal alcohol exposure, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), where we understand the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, isolation, or mental health issues.
Those with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) are highly suggestibility, at risk of coercion and exploitation where the short and the long-term impact of living on the streets needs to be very careful risk assessed by professionals that are 'FASD informed'.
In supporting tri-morbidity, professionals consider the importance of person-centred care and why it is crucial to identify and support a person’s needs sooner, ultimately improving outcomes and tackling inequalities. This underpins 'FASD Informed' good practice & fundamentally ensures that practitioners are 'FASD Responsive'.
FASD is the most severe of the neurodevelopmental disorders in terms of its far-reaching impact on functioning across the lifespan, and requires a unique approach to support and understanding.
Those who are not appropriately trained or knowledgeable can often make assumptions due to the fact that many individuals with FASD can superficially present as more able than they actually are or where their ‘symptoms’ are misinterpreted as ‘behaviour’ due to spiky cognitive and neurodevelopmental profile.
We offer courses and consultation to help your team to consider the impact of 'Prenatal Alcohol Exposure' and how this increased the risks and vulnerabilities for children, young people and adults.
'Section 181 of the Health and Care Act 2022 (the 2022 Act) introduces a requirement into the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (the 2008 Act) and regulation 18 of The Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 (the 2014 Regulations) that, from 1 July 2022, service providers registered with CQC must ensure their staff receive training appropriate to their role.
It applies to all registered providers of all health and adult social care in England.
